SCHOOL FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION
The School for Continuing Education, located at Salem High School, offers a variety of enrichment, vocational and academic courses for the adult learner in the community. Brochures containing course information are mailed to all Salem, Windham and Pelham residents in mid-August for the fall semester and mid-January for spring semester.
Adult High School Diploma Program
The Adult High School Diploma Program offers high school credit courses, which meet local and state requirements. Students may earn a diploma from the Salem School District. Dual enrollment is available for SHS students who meet eligibility requirements.
General Equivalency Development
The School for Continuing Education offers a variety of preparation courses for the General Equivalency Development (GED) Program that allows students to take the GED test. GED requirements are as follows:
Minimum test scores - a standard score of 410 on each of the five tests and a total standard score of 2250 on all five tests;
Residence ~ in order to receive a New Hampshire certificate, applicant must reside or have a legal residence in the state at the time of testing;
Minimum age for testing - 18 and out of school or applicant must receive permission from the State Administrator of the GED Testing Program. The examinee must be 16 years of age.
Enrichment Program
The School for Continuing Education offers a variety of non-credit courses to enrich the lives of all learners. These courses range from American Sign Language, to computer basics, to fitness and leisure activities.
