The Salem School District’s Salem First Corporation is partnering with the highly regarded Harris Publishing Company of Norfolk, Virginia to update the Salem High School Alumni Directory first published in 1997. This directory is being published at no cost to the district.  Salem alumni already have started to receive postcards from Harris requesting updated directory information.  Salem High Alumni are encouraged to provide their most recent contact information, which will help the school district develop an electronic contact data base.  A telephone campaign will be underway in early August.

There are several benefits to an alumni directory, which includes greater accessibility to classmates, re-establishing a bond with those with whom graduates went to school for twelve years; creating greater efficiencies for those planning reunions or class get-togethers; helping those wanting to connect with former teammates or fellow school club members, and helping alumni reacquaint themselves with those who shared a significant time in their lives.

A complete alumni directory can also help the school district get information to its single largest support group.  Whether we want to conduct a fundraising drive, start an alumni foundation, or simply provide information about what’s currently happening at Salem High, an updated directory can help us achieve our goal.

With the help of Harris Connect, the school is well on its way to achieving the goal of an updated and complete alumni directory.  Any alumnus who did not receive the request can provide their current information by calling 1-800-320-0563 or by emailing the information to speters@harrisconnect.com.
