Barron School
The staff of William T. Barron School continues to provide meaningful learning experiences for its nearly four hundred students. Efforts are greatly enhanced by the dedication of all who play key roles in maintaining a welcoming and nurturing learning environment. The involvement of the entire Barron community consistently demonstrates the belief that each child is capable of experiencing and attaining academic and social growth.
During this past year, our teachers participated in professional development activities that included research-based training in the teaching of writing, mathematics, and content literacy. Many of our fourth and fifth grade teachers also worked alongside members of the Salem High School Science Department resulting in the development of several units of study which included the acquisition of a variety of science materials. These quality professional development opportunities enhances the delivery of instruction across all content areas.
Our school community also places great emphasis on promoting respect and responsibility with the framework provided by our Heroes’ program. We acknowledge students for demonstrating positive contributions to our school while also emphasizing the importance for all students to be good citizens on a consistent basis. “Trying to make someone else’s day better” is a goal we set for all to accomplish.
Community and parental involvement continues to thrive at our wonderful school. Local businesses, town officials and other community members provide support in a number of ways. We thank you for your generosity and time spent assisting us. Our PTA earned another “Blue Ribbon Award” as well as the “Gold Circle Award” from the New Hampshire Partners in Education for our exemplary volunteer program and business partnership with BJ’s of Salem. A well-deserved “thank you” to our parents who serve as terrific role models for our students by dedicating so much time and effort for the benefit of others.
In closing, the Barron School family would like to acknowledge the contributions of two staff members, Janice Epps (37 years of service) and Catherine Somma (36 years of service), who will retire at the end of this school year. Thank you for your dedication and numerous contributions to our school and district.

and to give each student an equal chance in life.”
