SHS Volunteer Program
Welcome to
You will find the Volunteer Registration Form by
downloading the form on the Volunteer Tab of the SHS web site. You will be contacted only when a need for
your help arises and only for the specific items you have expressed interest
in. During the past year the Volunteer
Program organized a “Make A Difference Day” in October, and a spring “Clean Up
Day” in April to open the courtyard area for staff and students, which had been
closed for several years. We have also
provided speakers for Sophomore Career Day, baked for monthly staff meetings
and assisted staff with mailings and projects.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award
was created to recognize the tens of millions of Americans who have made a
sustained commitment to volunteer service. The Award is given to individuals;
families and groups that have demonstrated outstanding volunteer service and
civic participation over the course of a twelve-month period. A Gold Award is
given for 250 volunteer hours, Silver Award for 175-249 hours and Bronze Award
for 100-174 hours over a twelve-month period.
These awards reflect a great achievement on a student’s permanent record
and may be used for college applications and job resumes. For more information please log onto: www.presidentialserviceawards.gov.
