The Woodbury School Library houses 15,000 volumes including
classic and contemporary fiction, up-to-date nonfiction, and reference
materials such as encyclopedias, atlases, almanacs, and primary source
documents. The library also subscribes
to several online services including EBSCO, SIRS Discoverer and World Book Online. These resources
can be accessed from the library or remotely from students’ homes. Magazines
are also available for students and staff.
All resources in the library have been selected by the media generalist
to support the middle school curriculum, to aid teachers in preparing their
lessons, and to provide pleasure reading for students. The media center has 15 computers with
Internet access. All sixth grade
students take part in a Computer Literacy class in which they learn to
efficiently and effectively use the Internet for research. Students visit the library individually or
with their classroom teachers and are able to check out materials for a two
week period. A Homework Club meets in
the library Mondays – Thursdays from 2:30 until 3:30. Teachers are available at this time to assist students with their
homework assignments. It is the goal of
the library staff to provide the resources and support necessary for all
students to be successful.
