Welcome to our Online Library
The elementary libraries have many different functions in their schools. The most important role of the school library is the education of students. Each library has a full time assistant who, under the direction of the media specialist, teaches all classes once a week. Students are taught how to use a library effectively to gather information. They are taught how to use a variety of resources and how to evaluate these sources. The knowledge students gain from this instruction will be useful throughout their lives. The library collection is used in a variety of ways. The elementary libraries provide students with materials to support the school curriculum. Students have access to a variety of print and online resources that can be used to access information. Students can also find books and magazines for pleasure reading. The library assistants are available to guide students with their choices. Professional materials are also available for teachers and staff to assist them in preparing lessons. The elementary school libraries are active learning environments. Whether it is through information skills lessons, computer resource instruction or literature connections we hope to foster a love of learning and reading with students.
