What is the Salem School District’s web address?

What is the address of the Salem School District webmail?

The address of SSD webmail is http://www.salem.k12.nh.us:1420/.

 

Can I check my SSD webmail only from school?

No.  You can check your webmail from home or any other computer with Internet capabilities.

 

Can I go to the Department of Information Technology at the Foss School to choose Media materials?

Yes.  Teachers are welcome visit the Foss School  between 7:45 AM – 3:15 PM each day at Foss School, 287 Lawrence Road, to look at the collection of videos, tapes and big books.

 

Where should I return Media materials – Foss School or the high school?

All media materials should be sent to the Department of Information Technology at Foss School.

 

What computer and TV supplies are provided by the Department of Information Technology?

The Department of Information Technology supplies batteries, cables, mice, and mouse pads. 

Each school will supply printer refill cartridges, floppies, CD’s, blank videotapes, and specialty paper.

 

What printer cartridge do I need?

Check the type of printer you have and talk to your school’s secretary for replacement.

 

Since I use my personal computer or laptop for schoolwork, can the Department of Information Technology fix it?

The Media Department does not fix personal property.

 

Where do I send messages to be posted for the school district TV channel - channel 6?

All information to be posted on Channel 6 should be sent to Gabriel Bruno at the high school, gbruno@salem.k12.nh.us.

 

Where should I send messages for community access television?

Community access information should be sent to Tom Giarrosso at the high school or fax the Media Center at 898-0207.

 

Where should I send workshop registration sheets?

All workshop registration sheets should be sent to Linda Cornwell at the Superintendent’s Office.

 

Who do I talk to if I have a problem with my computer?

Contact one of the mentors in your school.  Your mentor will check out the problem and call the Department of Information Technology (078) if more help is needed.

 

I can’t get on the Internet from my machine.

·        If you can go to other sites, the page you are trying to reach might be down. 

·        Check to see if gray or blue network cable is loose. 

·        If your cables are connected, check to see if others in your building are also having the same difficulty.  If so, the network may be down, contact the Department of Information Technology (078).

 

My hard drive has crashed; are my documents lost?

All teachers should be saving their work on the network.  When something happens to your computer, you can find your work from another networked computer.  No files will be lost when you save on the network.

 

Can the Department of Information Technology purchase software for my classroom?

The IT Department does sometimes have funds to make software purchases.  Please contact the the Department of Information Technology.

 

Can I install software on my classroom computer that I have purchased?

You will not be able to install your own software on most of the district’s machines.  Please contact the IT Department for help (078).

 

Can my software be installed on my machine and another machine (home or another classroom)?

The basic rule is one piece of software for each machine but some software companies allow installation on both home and classroom computers.  Check licensing agreement included with your software.  Inspiration and Kidspiration allows you to install their software at home.  You will find a copy in your school library.

 

Can I create a class web page and connect it through the SSD site?

At this point, the SSD is supporting teacher pages through SchoolNotes.com.  Each district school’s web page has a link to this page.  For more information, please call the Department of Information Technology.

 

How can I get professional development technology hours other than SSD workshops?

New Hampshire Public Television has many choices on getting technology and other professional development hours -http://www.nhptv.org/kn/profdev
